  Hobby Master 1/72 scale HA3314: Northrop F-5E Tiger II of the 58th TFTW, USAF, based at Luke AFB Arizona in the 1970s. In superb Vietnam conflict style camouflage. Production run of 650 models.

F-5E 72-01405 was c/n 1025, the second last aircraft produced in a contract for 21 F-5Es. 72405 joined the 425th Squadron of the 58th Tactical Fighter Training Wing in 1974 and were stationed at Luke AFB. The 58th Wing was tasked with training U.S. aircrew as well as aircrews and their support personnel from friendly foreign squadrons and wings. They also took part in operational and tactical exercises at the base until 1977 when the 58th TFTW was re-designated the 58th Tactical Training Wing. In 1988 this aircraft was sent to Honduras as FAH 4010.

The Northrop F-5 tactical fighter was designed as an extremely manoeuvrable, supersonic fighter with a high rate of reliability at a low operating cost. The F-5 first flew on July 30, 1959 with the first customer delivery in 1964. The last of more than 2,600 F-5’s was produced in 1989 and about two-thirds of these are still in service with 26 countries more than 4 decades later. The F-5 was manufactured by Northrop Grumman and under license in Canada, Taiwan, South Korea, Spain and Switzerland.
